Bedspreads come all the way down to the floor, and unlike comforters, normally do not require pillow shams, and dust ruffles are always optional. Bedspreads come in all sizes from smaller twin sizes all the way up to California or Extended King bedspreads.

Unlike the old chenille bedspreads that were as heavy and hard as truck bed covers, the newer bed spread is made of lighter fabric and suitable for year round wear. Just don’t give up your truck bed cover yet! Every truck owner needs truck bed covers sometimes, and the new retrax bed covers are pretty nice! No, we are just joking! Even the largest king sized bed spreads are nice and substantial yet lightweight enough not to weigh you down, while still providing the ultimate all over coverage of a spread in the place of the lighter comforter type alternatives that most people are using. Without needing to remove a mattress to wash or change a dust ruffle, you can just throw on the bedspread and go!

Children tend to love bedspreads, because they are not as easy to toss off in their sleep. If you make want to make an arts and craft bedspread, personalized with fabric paints and photo transfers or use a character theme such as Disney or Pluto bedspreads, you can make children happy with something cheerful, personalized and beloved. If you have an old bedspread you want to recycle, you can try these crafts!

Take an old, neutral bedspread, in fabric paint or paint pen, write, “The Times, They Are A Changing” on the top, then make a fabric transfer photo of all the beloved people and pets your child holds dear. Using white T-shirts, iron on the photos, and paint on each shirt something appropriate, like “Grandma loves Sam!” or “Let’s play catch, Sam!” and using coordinating embroidery floss, stitch in large hand stitching, the T-shirts to the spread.

You can also make a cute spread with character T-shirts your child has out grown. Believe it or not, this idea goes over very well with teen bedspreads. Use their favorite singer or music group photos, T-shirts, etc, and decorate a custom craft bedspread! Yes, these are a little unique, but they are great ways to recycle even Grandmother’s treasured Thomasville bedspread with things you have lying around the house and make it a special treasure created anew, for your child.
